Preview: LaSalle Royal Lions vs. Scheck Hillel Community School Lions
After three games on the road, LaSalle is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Scheck Hillel Community School Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Wednesday, LaSalle was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-45 to Marathon. LaSalle has struggled against Marathon recently, as their match on Wednesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, LaSalle saw an underclassman step up: Alexandra Gonzalez casar dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. The contest was Gonzalez casar's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Candy Cruz was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Scheck Hillel Community School's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 46-5 defeat at the hands of Hebrew Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Scheck Hillel Community School has scored all season.
LaSalle's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3. As for Scheck Hillel Community School, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Everything came up roses for LaSalle against Scheck Hillel Community School in their previous meeting back in January of 2022 as the team secured a 62-16 win.
