Basketball Recap: Harvest Christian Academy Saints vs. Westlake Academy Blacksmiths
Harvest Christian Academy kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They were dealt a 49-17 defeat at the hands of the Westlake Academy Blacksmiths. The Saints just can't catch a break and have now endured seven losses in a row dating back to last season.
Maya Sonday was her usual excellent self, going 14 for 27 en route to 31 points plus eight steals and five rebounds for Westlake Academy. That makes it four consecutive games in which Sonday has scored at least a third of Westlake Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Mason Wack, who posted six points along with six rebounds and three steals.
The win snapped Westlake Academy's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 1-3 record.
Harvest Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Joshua Christian at 6:30 p.m. on December 9th. As for Westlake Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 31-19 victory against Nazarene Christian Academy on the 16th.
