Soccer Game Preview: Mediapolis vs. Wapello

Mediapolis is a perfect 10-0 against Wapello since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bulldogs will head out to take on the Indians at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mediapolis has four straight victories, Wapello has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Five must be Mediapolis' lucky number: they beat West Burlington with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 5-1 margin over the Falcons. Considering Mediapolis have won eight contests by more than two goals this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Wapello fell victim to West Branch and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 8-0 to the Bears. That's two games in a row now that Wapello have lost by exactly eight goals.

Mediapolis pushed their record up to 10-4-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those three matchups. As for Wapello, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.

Everything went Mediapolis' way against Wapello in their previous meeting back in April, as Mediapolis made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
