Basketball Recap: Capital's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against La Cueva, Capital was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Manzano Monarchs by a score of 60-50. The victory was some much needed relief for the Jaguars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Manzano lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Bryce Johnson, who posted 14 points in addition to seven boards and six steals. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kai Youngberg, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.

Capital's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 8-12. As for Manzano, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Capital has already played their next game, an 81-52 loss against Eldorado on the 4th. As for Manzano, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 74-52 defeat against La Cueva on the 4th.
