Basketball Recap: Pleasant Grove Eagles vs. Franklin Wildcats
Pleasant Grove lost against Franklin back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pleasant Grove Eagles were outmatched by the Franklin Wildcats and fell 90-48. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 533rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 52nd).

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Pharrell Williams, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 20 points. Williams' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Thai, who posted eight points.
Aiden Rollins was his usual excellent self, going 9 for 18 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists for Franklin. That's the most assists Rollins has posted since back in February of 2024. Benjamin Sandy was another key player, going 7 for 9 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds.
Pleasant Grove has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Franklin, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2.
Pleasant Grove didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-49 defeat against St. Patrick-St. Vincent on the 11th. As for Franklin, they will venture away from home to square off against Sheldon at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th.
