Basketball Recap: Proviso West Panthers vs. Downers Grove North Trojans
The Proviso West Panthers lost against the Downers Grove North Trojans back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Proviso West took a 53-37 bruising from the Trojans. While losing is never fun, Proviso West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 350th, while the Trojans are ranked 25th).
Kaitlyn Parker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Downers Grove North, scoring 18 points along with five assists and three steals. Parker has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ann Stephens, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Proviso West dropped their record down to 6-16 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Downers Grove North, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 27-3.
Proviso West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Downers Grove North will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th.
