Soccer Game Preview: Round Rock Westwood vs. Vandegrift

Round Rock Westwood will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Stony Point on Friday. Everything went Round Rock Westwood's way against Stony Point as Round Rock Westwood made off with a 5-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, on FridayHutto kept up with Vandegrift until halftime, but afterwards: not so much. Vandegrift's defense stepped up to hand Hutto a 3-0 shutout. Given the Vipers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Hippos are ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Vandegrift hit Hutto with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Maddie Hodges, Brooke Cansler, and Eva Pensamiento.

Vandegrift is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those six contests. Round Rock Westwood's victory bumped their record up to 14-3-3.
