Basketball Recap: Gatewood Comes Up Short

Gatewood was the 67-44 winner over Piedmont Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Gators took a blow against the Cougars on Friday, falling 64-34. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cruz Chapman, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Bennett Haley, who earned 11 points and five assists.

Leading Piedmont Academy to victory were Corbett Crews and Tyler Griswell. Crews scored 21 points, while Griswell put up 15 points. Griswell continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Cam Moss was another key player, putting up eight points.

Gatewood now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Piedmont Academy, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Gatewood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-23 defeat against Georgia Military College on the 6th. As for Piedmont Academy, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on George Walton Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
