Softball Game Preview: Ridge View Blazers vs. Lugoff-Elgin Demons

Ridge View hasn't had much luck against Lugoff-Elgin recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Ridge View will look to defend their home field against Lugoff-Elgin at 6:00 p.m. Ridge View has given up an average of 13.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ridge View is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Spring Valley, falling 22-4.

Ridge View saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Helena Wright, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lugoff-Elgin). They skirted past A.C. Flora 14-13. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Demons as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Kayley Lynch was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Haley Starcher, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.

Ridge View's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Lugoff-Elgin, their win bumped their record up to 4-11.

Ridge View suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Lugoff-Elgin in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Ridge View avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
