The Hobbton Wildcats will challenge the Neuse Charter Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hobbton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.

Hobbton is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 16 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against North Duplin on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Rebels by a score of 3-2.

Hobbton saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Neal, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Neuse Charter entered their tilt with Union on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 20-2 margin over the Spartans.

The team relied heavily on Hayden Jones, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Knox Gipe, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Neuse Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hobbton's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Neuse Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10.

Neuse Charter's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hobbton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. It's a different story for Neuse Charter, though, as they've only averaged .241. Will they be able to contain Hobbton's hitters?

Hobbton was able to grind out a solid win over Neuse Charter when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 8-4. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
