Creighton Prep has gone 9-1 against Omaha Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bluejay will welcome the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Creighton Prep's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Omaha Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Creighton Prep is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Bellevue West, who was ranked 21st at the time (Creighton Prep was ranked seventh). The Bluejay fell just short of the Thunderbirds by a score of 4-3 on Monday. The Bluejay have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Omaha Central rose to the challenge on Thursday. They blew past the Cardinals 10-1. Considering the Eagles have won ten matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Leo Bock made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Oscar Yuhas was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Luke Neujahr was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Omaha Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Omaha Central, bringing their record up to 15-18. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Creighton Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 22-13.
Everything went Creighton Prep's way against Omaha Central when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Creighton Prep made off with a 12-2 victory. Will the Bluejay repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
