Roosevelt had won five straight games and Natalie Vasquez did her part to make it six on Wednesday. The Rough Riders walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Mendez Jaguars for which the team can thank Vasquez, who had 34 digs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 16.7 digs per game.

Roosevelt had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-16.

Roosevelt's win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will head out to take on Jordan at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. After both having extra time off, Mendez and Roybal will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The match will give the Jaguars their first taste of in-conference action this season.
