Basketball Recap: Sedgwick County Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Sedgwick County couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 40-29 to the Merino Rams on Saturday. The Cougars' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Veronica Baray was a one-woman wrecking crew for Merino as she went 6-for-10 on her way to 13 points in addition to six boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Baray a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jay Lynch, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.

Sedgwick County's defeat dropped their record down to 21-5. As for Merino, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 26-1.

As of now, neither Sedgwick County nor Merino have any future games scheduled.
