Baseball Recap: Coyle Comes Up Short

Coyle extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-8. They came up short against the Tonkawa Buccaneers, falling 11-0. That's two games in a row now that the Bluejackets have lost by exactly 11 runs.

As for Tonkawa, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

For Tonkawa's part, Kade Ditmore looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Ditmore a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cason Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Westyn Freeman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coyle will host Covington-Douglas at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tonkawa, they will be playing at home against Fairview at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
