Basketball Recap: Parkview Christian Patriots vs. Cedar Bluffs Wildcats
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lincoln Lutheran, the Parkview Christian Patriots were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They managed a 32-27 victory over Cedar Bluffs. That's another feather in the cap for Parkview Christian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Parkview Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maria Pastrelo, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Merryl Paul, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Parkview Christian's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-8. As for Cedar Bluffs, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season.
Parkview Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Brownell Talbot is ranked 225th, while the Patriots are ranked 212th). As for Cedar Bluffs, they will head out on the road to take on the Beavers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Edward comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last eight games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
