The Fairfield Prep Jesuits will face off against the Platt Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Fairfield Prep sitting on 22 straight victories and Platt on four.
Fairfield Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over East Hartford.
Jack Nolan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Ryan Ventrelle and Vinny Lombardo did most of the damage at the plate: Ventrelle went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Lombardo went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Lombardo is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Platt ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Newtown 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since March 28th.
Like Fairfield Prep, Platt also got a great game from a two-way player: Tyler Cioffi. He pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Cioffi was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI.
In other pitching news, Devyn Page looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Caleb Datchuck, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Luis Inoa Ramos was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Fairfield Prep's win bumped their record up to 25-1. As for Platt, their victory bumped their record up to 15-11-1.
