Basketball Recap: Lincolnton Skates Past Bunker Hill with Ease

On FridayBunker Hill kept up with Lincolnton until halftime, but afterwards: not so much. The Lincolnton Wolves breezed by the Bunker Hill Bears to the tune of 66-34. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 71-56 back in December of 2024.

Lincolnton was led to victory by Curmiya Tillman and Nyla Johnson. Tillman posted 18 points, while Johnson put up 16 points and six boards. Tillman continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Sarah Rhyne was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Lincolnton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bailee Carswell, who earned four points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Carswell a new career-high in rebounds. Eliana McClain also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Lincolnton and bumps their season record up to 10-7. As for Bunker Hill, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Lincolnton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-32 victory against Patton on the 27th. As for Bunker Hill, they will host West Caldwell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bunker Hill is facing West Caldwell at the right time seeing as West Caldwell is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
