Softball Recap: Empire Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

Empire had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Safford Bulldogs with a sharp 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Ravens, who have now won 18 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Empire got a massive performance out of Eva Peace, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelina Dehler, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Empire always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Safford only posted an OBP of .062.

Empire's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 25-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Safford, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-12.

Looking ahead, Empire will challenge Sabino at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Ravens 1.3, the Sabercats 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Safford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
