Baseball Recap: Union Wins Going Away Against Scott Central

Union was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They blew past the Scott Central Rebels 14-5. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Jacob Freeman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Freeman was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Kooper Fultz and Mason Tucker did most of the damage at the plate: Fultz scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Tucker scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave Tucker a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rafe Manning, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Union's record now sits at 5-2. As for Scott Central, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Union will challenge Morton at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Scott Central, they will take on Forest at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Scott Central has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
