Baseball Game Preview: Martin Tigers vs. Cigarroa Toros

The Martin Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Cigarroa Toros at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Martin will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Martin had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Cigarroa on Tuesday. Martin blew past Cigarroa 13-1. Considering the Tigers have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Edgar Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Martin let Alan Ornelas and Aldo Alarcon run wild. Ornelas scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Alarcon went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. The dominant performance gave Alarcon a new career-high in RBI. Ruben Hernandez was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Martin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.

Martin's record is now 10-4-2. As for Cigarroa, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
