East Valley recap Oct. 3, 2012
Arleta extended the longest winning streak in East Valley this week by beating Poly, 41-0. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Mustangs.
Verdugo Hills took down Monroe 73-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mark Powell threw for 177 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 82 yards in the win.
Tyler Riggs was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 209 yards on 18 carries as the Dons bested Chavez.
ZIV E was the best wideout in the league this week as the Lancers topped Chavez. ZIV E tallied two receptions for 100 yards. CALDWELL DRAKE A helped Grant's passing attack out by catching one ball for 22 yards.
BARRAGAN ANGEL KEVIN made the biggest impact on defense this week as Grant defeated Chavez. The 5-foot-6 junior recorded one fumble.
The Vikings' Luis Dorame and Antjuan Farmer have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading East Valley in both passing and receiving yards. Dorame has thrown for 1581 yards this season, while Farmer, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 49 catches for 880 yards. Rudy Delatorre's team's GENTRY CHRISTOPHER C leads the league in rushing yards with 450.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Arleta takes on Monroe. Dan Kelley's team's offense has racked up 225 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Don Senegal's team has allowed only 325 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Mustangs take on the Vikings. Arleta is currently in first, while Monroe is in fifth.
There should be lots of points scored when the Mustangs and the Vikings face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Arleta comes in having scored 225 this season, while Monroe has scored 157. The Mustangs scored 41 points last week as they topped the Parrots.
The Lancers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,382 from 11,714. The advance stemmed from a 51-0 victory over Chavez last week.
