Basketball Recap: South Putnam Takes a Loss

South Putnam was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against the Edgewood Mustangs, falling 63-37. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 356th, while the Mustangs are ranked 128th).

Edgewood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Owen Mcgovern led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Jones, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 15 points.

South Putnam's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Edgewood, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Putnam will welcome Northview at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Edgewood, they will take on Owen Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
