Softball Game Preview: Halls Red Devils vs. Clinton Dragons

Halls has gone 9-1 against Clinton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Red Devils will face off against the Dragons at 6:00 p.m. Halls is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

Halls had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Oak Ridge on Tuesday. The Red Devils blew past the Wildcats 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won 13 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Emery Bales was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with six RBI, one run, and one double. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brielle Johnson, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Halls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Ridge only posted an OBP of .077.

Meanwhile, Clinton came up short against Anderson County on Monday and fell 9-6. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Halls' win bumped their record up to 24-4-1. As for Clinton, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-9-1.

Halls took their victory against Clinton when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 9-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
