Basketball Recap: Avon Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If Avon was feeling good fresh off their 60-34 takedown of Marty Indian last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The game between the Avon Pirates and the Corsica/Stickney Jaguars didn't end well, with the Avon Pirates falling 54-40. The loss was the Pirates' first of the season.

Avon's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-1. As for Corsica/Stickney, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avon and Centerville will compete for holiday cheer at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Centerville will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Avon surely won't give up without a fight. As for Corsica/Stickney, they will be home for the holidays to greet Sanborn Central/Woonsocket at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
