Softball Recap: Gila Ridge Extends Winning Streak to Three

Gila Ridge won against Valley Vista last Monday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Gila Ridge Hawks didn't even let the Paradise Valley Trojans on the board, marking the Gila Ridge Hawks' second-straight 18-0 shutout. Fans of the Hawks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Violet Silva made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Gila Ridge got a massive performance out of Tayler Reischmann, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Alexis Figueroa was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple.

Gila Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

The victory was the third in a row for Gila Ridge, bringing their record for this year to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Paradise Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gila Ridge will challenge Sunnyslope at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Gila Ridge's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. Paradise Valley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Canyon View at 3:45 p.m. on March 17th.
