Softball Recap: Shady Spring Comes Up Short

After flying high against Nicholas County on Wednesday, Shady Spring came back down to earth. The Tigers fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Grizzlies earlier this season, when they won 6-0.

Shady Spring got a good showing from Raelynn Williams, who struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk).

Shady Spring has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Nicholas County, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.

Coming up, Shady Spring is taking a road trip to square off against Independence at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season. As for Nicholas County, they will be playing at home against Oak Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
