Baseball Recap: Rowe-Clark Comes Up Short

Rowe-Clark extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They lost 18-0 to the Mansueto Leopards. The Masai Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Leopards apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Mansueto, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-5-1. That 18 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Mansueto's part, Mijayl Bonilla made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Bonilla has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Mansueto is 2-1 when Bonilla posts two or more runs, but 1-4-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Alfredo Santana and Nicholas Resendiz did most of the damage at the plate: Santana got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Resendiz got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Santana has become a key player for Mansueto: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4-1 otherwise. Oswaldo Patino-Gonzalez was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Looking ahead, Rowe-Clark will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Hansberry at 10:00 a.m. The Bengals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.88 runs per game on average), something the Masai Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mansueto, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-4 win against Pritzker on the 25th.
