Basketball Recap: Wheaton-Warrenville South Snags Tenth Win in Last 11 Games

Wheaton-Warrenville South posted their closest win since December 28, 2024 on Monday. They had just enough and edged the Rockford East E-Rabs out 59-56. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the E-Rabs are ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rockford East's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sterling Hoarde, who posted 14 points. Marquis Goldsmith was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

Wheaton-Warrenville South has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Rockford East, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-11.

Wheaton-Warrenville South will take on Geneva at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rockford East, they will face off against Belvidere North at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
