Softball Recap: Dirigo Continues Road Dominance on Monday

Dirigo had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Winthrop on Monday. The Cougars blew past the Ramblers 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won nine matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Dirigo's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Winthrop, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Dirigo is set to square off against their familiar foe Monmouth Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 3, the Mustangs 1.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Winthrop will face off against rival Lisbon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
