Softball Recap: Oberlin Phoenix vs. Brookside Cardinals

Oberlin extended their losing streak to eight on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-9-1 in the process. They came up short against the Brookside Cardinals, falling 21-1. If the Phoenix were looking for revenge after losing 13-3 to the Cardinals when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Brookside, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-14. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Brookside's part, Markie-Ann Aliff made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Aliff has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Leann Clark was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with six stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Khloe Racz, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.
