Softball Game Preview: Memorial Red Devils vs. Western Reserve Blue Devils

For the second straight game, Memorial will face off against Western Reserve. The Red Devils will welcome the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Memorial will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Western Reserve on Thursday. The Red Devils were the clear victors by a 21-7 margin over the Blue Devils. Considering the Red Devils have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ramani Adams was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up five earned runs off three hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mileena Williams, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emily Cleland, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI and two runs.

Memorial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Memorial's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Western Reserve, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
