Basketball Game Preview: Edinburgh Lancers vs. Southwestern Spartans

Edinburgh hasn't had much luck against Southwestern recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Edinburgh Lancers will square off against the Southwestern Spartans at 6:00 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Edinburgh was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 37-36 to South Decatur. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Southwestern came into Wednesday's contest having lost 13 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Union on Wednesday, sneaking past 39-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted since January 22, 2024.

Edinburgh's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Southwestern, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-16.

Edinburgh couldn't quite finish off Southwestern in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 and fell 42-40. Can Edinburgh avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
