Basketball Recap: Duchesne Eagles vs. Grand County Red Devils
Even though the Grand County Red Devils scored an imposing 63 points on Saturday, the Duchesne Eagles still came out on top. Duchesne sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 66-63 victory over the Red Devils. The win made it back-to-back wins for Duchesne.
Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trace York, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. York continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jason Mckinney, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Duchesne has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Grand County, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Duchesne will square off against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Gunnison Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests. As for Grand County, they and the Broncos will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully San Juan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Saturday.
