Softball Recap: Sheridan Drops Highest Score of Season Against Eastern

Sheridan extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 19 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-6 in the process. They came up short against the Eastern Comets, falling 18-11. On the bright side, the 11- run performance marked the Blackhawks' highest-scoring match to date.

Amiyah Doss was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Mac Smith was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Eastern's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-11. They haven't had any issues with Sheridan recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

On Eastern's side, Ava Roberson made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and eight unearned) runs off nine hits. Roberson has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Marly Coan was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maddy Stevens, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Coming up, Sheridan will be playing at home against Herron at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Eastern, they will face off against Eastbrook at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
