West Orange skates past Columbia with ease

Recap: West Orange Mountaineers vs. Columbia Cougars

The West Orange Mountaineers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They really took it to Columbia for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-24 victory at home. West Orange has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 22 points or more this season.

West Orange's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anaya Karriem led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Karriem is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Francis-Bunkley, who scored 14 points along with four steals.

The win (which was West Orange's fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Columbia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Orange will play host again and welcome Caldwell, where tip off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Caldwell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 67th, while West Orange is ranked 16th). As for Columbia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Randolph at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
