Basketball Recap: Kai Fehrenbach's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Summit Academy over South Summit

Summit Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They came up short against the South Summit Wildcats, falling 77-56. The Bears were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Summit Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kai Fehrenbach, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Nixon Savage, who had nine points.

Even though they lost, Summit Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. This was only their tenth loss (out of 11 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

It was another big night for Logan Woolstenhulme, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds for South Summit. Woolstenhulme has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last 26 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Osguthorpe, who put up 16 points.

Summit Academy's record now sits at 1-16. As for South Summit, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-3.

Summit Academy will take on Judge Memorial Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Summit, they will host Grantsville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Summit knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matchups -- so hopefully Grantsville likes a good challenge.
