Preview: Lake City Panthers vs. Crestwood Knights
The Lake City Panthers will be playing at home against the Crestwood Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Lake City: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Crestwood has snatched up nine consecutive wins on the road.
Lake City suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They took a serious blow against Darlington, falling 73-42. Lake City was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-7.
Dallas Davis put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Blayne Edwards, who scored six points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Crestwood posted their biggest win since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They breezed by Camden on the road to the tune of 71-44. Given Crestwood's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Camden is ranked 120th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake City has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Crestwood, their win bumped their record up to 16-1.
Lake City was dealt a bruising 89-44 loss at the hands of Crestwood when the teams last played on January 5th. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lake City was down 51-24.
