Basketball Recap: Lyle/Pacelli Drops Season-High Score on Mabel-Canton

Lyle/Pacelli scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against the Mabel-Canton Cougars, falling 88-68. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Athletics this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 73-64 on January 3rd.

Isaac Underbakke was his usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-5 from deep and almost dropping a triple-double on 32 points, 18 rebounds, and nine assists for Mabel-Canton. The dominant performance gave Underbakke a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Tyler Larson, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.

Lyle/Pacelli dropped their record down to 1-14 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Mabel-Canton, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.

Lyle/Pacelli will be playing in front of their home fans against Lanesboro at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mabel-Canton, they will venture away from home to challenge Grand Meadow at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
