Preview: Kofa Kings vs. Yuma Criminals

Kofa is 9-1 against Yuma since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Kofa Kings' homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Yuma Criminals at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 79-41, which was the final score in Kofa's tilt against Willow Canyon on Friday. The loss was Kofa's first of the season.

Kofa's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jayven Wynn, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds, and Calvin Barber who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. The match was Barber's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Luis Negrete, who scored 7 points.

Meanwhile, Yuma put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 73-33 win over San Luis at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-17.

Andrew Mosqueda continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Nick Amador was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 10 assists.

Kofa has yet to win a match at home this season, leaving them with a 3-1 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Yuma, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Kofa have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Yuma struggles in that department as they've been even better at 30 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.

Kofa won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in January, slipping by Yuma 37-36. Does Kofa have another victory up their sleeve, or will Yuma turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
