Basketball Recap: Severna Park Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

It was a Battle of the Birds when Severna Park challenged Northeast on Thursday. The Severna Park Falcons blew past the Northeast Eagles 47-24. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

Starr Munford and Brynn Jones certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Munford posted nine points and eight rebounds, while Jones scored seven points along with seven boards and five steals. Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 29 games she's played dating back to last season.

Severna Park is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.3 points over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Northeast and nudges their season record down to 8-13.

Looking ahead, Severna Park won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Allegany at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Allegany will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Severna Park surely won't give up without a fight. As for Northeast, they will head out on the road to square off against Arundel at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Northeast is facing Arundel at the right time seeing as Arundel is stuck on a 21-game losing streak.
