Softball Recap: Hoopa Valley Takes a Loss

Hoopa Valley fell victim to Etna and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 10-0 to the Lions. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Monteya Colegrove spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on 15 hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

Hoopa Valley dropped their record down to 1-11 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Etna, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Etna beat Hoopa Valley by a score of 8-3 later that day.
