Softball Game Preview: Menasha Bluejays vs. De Pere Redbirds

The Menasha Bluejays are taking a road trip to face off against the De Pere Redbirds at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, Menasha was able to grind out a solid win over Arrowhead, taking the game 10-5.

Meanwhile, De Pere entered their tilt with Notre Dame Academy on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Tritons.

Reese Falish made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Robinett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 12 matchups. Julianne Bradford was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

De Pere was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in three consecutive games.

Menasha's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for De Pere, their record is now 17-8.

Menasha couldn't quite finish off De Pere in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Bluejays avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
