Soccer Game Preview: Cuyahoga Heights vs. Oberlin

The Cuyahoga Heights Red Wolves will head out to square off against the Oberlin Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cuyahoga Heights has given up an average of 3.5 goals per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cuyahoga Heights is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Beachwood on Thursday. They came up short against the Bison, falling 5-0. Cuyahoga Heights haven't had much luck with Beachwood recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Meanwhile, Clearview kept up with Oberlin until halftime on Saturday, but afterwards: not so much. The Phoenix's defense stepped up to hand the Clippers a 5-0 shutout. Considering Oberlin have won four matches by more than three goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

With the victory, Oberlin broke their five-match losing streak and moved their record to 4-8. As for Cuyahoga Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6-1.

Cuyahoga Heights suffered a grim 5-2 defeat to Oberlin when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Can the Red Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
