Softball Recap: Flat Rock Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Flat Rock ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Milan Big Reds 16-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted against the Big Reds since May 28, 2019.

Jaclynn Motyka was a standout: she went 4-for-6 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Addi Kopp was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and one double.

Flat Rock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Flat Rock's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-10. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 5.25 runs across that stretch. As for Milan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Flat Rock will venture away from home to face off against Carlson at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Marauders have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Milan, they will head out on the road to take on Saline at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Big Reds surely won't give up without a fight.
