Baseball Recap: Dayton Comes Up Short

Dayton is still winless after their match against Calvary Christian on Friday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Greendevils have suffered since May 9, 2024.

Chad Nickell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Dayton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elias Lopez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Dayton's record is now 0-4. As for Calvary Christian, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Coming up, Dayton will face off against Ludlow at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Calvary Christian, they will challenge Robertson County at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
