Softball Game Preview: Bishop Moore Hornets vs. Apopka Blue Darters

The Bishop Moore Hornets will venture away from home to challenge the Apopka Blue Darters at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bishop Moore has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bishop Moore lost 17-6 to Tohopekaliga on Tuesday. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ariana Lara was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Apopka had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They never let the Royals get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Blue Darters, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Apopka's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Bishop Moore, their loss dropped their record down to 9-14.

Bishop Moore might still be hurting after the 14-3 defeat they got from Apopka in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
