Soccer Game Preview: Cape Fear vs. Clinton

Cape Fear has won five straight games at home, while Clinton has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Colts will welcome the Dark Horses at 6:00 p.m. Clinton took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Cape Fear, who comes in off a win.

Cape Fear's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past South View 7-0. Cape Fear might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of nine wins, Clinton's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 4-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of C.B. Aycock. Evan Gillespie was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on her (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Arizona Tyndall and Samiya Smith scored both of Clinton's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

Cape Fear has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 49 goals over those 11 matches. As for Clinton, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7-1.
