Basketball Game Preview: Godby Cougars vs. North Florida Christian Eagles

The Godby Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the North Florida Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Godby has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Two weeks ago, Godby humbled Rutherford with a 63-30 victory. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, North Florida Christian suffered their closest loss since November 20, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Maclay by a score of 51-49. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Marauders recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Godby will need focus on slowing down Jed Dickens, one of several North Florida Christian players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Dickens is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jace Riggan, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine assists.

Godby's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for North Florida Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.

Godby took their victory against North Florida Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2021 by a conclusive 58-36. Will Godby repeat their success, or does North Florida Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
