Volleyball Recap: Pike County Pirates vs. Mary Persons Bulldogs
Pike County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mary Persons Bulldogs. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
Pike County took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 24-26, 26-28, 25-22, 15-10.
Pike County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Mary Persons, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Coming up, Pike County will face off against Heard County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Braves will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mary Persons, they will take on Peach County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
