Volleyball Recap: Pike County Pirates vs. Mary Persons Bulldogs

Pike County extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-8. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mary Persons Bulldogs. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

As for Mary Persons, their record now sits at 10-6. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 16-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Mary Persons found their leader in sophomore Kourtney Harrington, who had 14 digs and two assists. Francesca Hoots also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Pike County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Heard County on the 2nd. As for Mary Persons, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Peach County on the 2nd.
